Beyond the obviously cringeworthy things that weren’t considered so in 1979 culture, it is interesting that other bits that were contemporaneously considered very funny just aren’t any more (e.g. Murray’s motivational speeches). A perplexing contrast with “Stripes”, which holds up much better today. Above-average rating due to acknowledgement of the film’s influence.
