Extraordinarily rote, like reading a recipe. The movie equivalent of a Gallagher performance.

Green Lantern (2011) 40%
Not as bad as reported, the movie suffers due to the silliness of The Green Lantern’s powers. Reynolds deserves better writing as well.
Hostel: Part III (2011) 20%
Average B-movie that is only ostensibly a Part III of anything. Better than Final Destination 5, for what little that is worth.
The Inbetweeners (2012) 60%
An English “American Pie”. Plenty of low-brow humor; could have been worse.
Camp X-Ray (2014) 60%
Interesting morality tale. May work better as a play.
The Tunnel Movie (2012) 60%
Well-done suspense for the money. Good date movie.
Sucker Punch (2011) 30%
Offensive movie with amazing visuals, straight out of the director’s fantasy. Much like what I imagine an old (60s-era) Roger Corman movie would have been like if he had CGI to work with.
Warrior (2011) 30%
Dramatic effect added to the proceedings of the sporting event itself is ruinous.
Hugo (2011) 10%
Good test to see if your favorite movie critic thinks a little too much of himself. In most films, the audience is made to care what happens “next”, and the proceedings are consequential. Not in Hugo. The movie does a disservice to Georges Méliès, who actually knew how to tell a story.
The Equalizer (2014) 55%
Adequate, formulaic action movie built around someone’s daydream about using everything in a home improvement store as a weapon.
