Visually striking, with a trademark comic and quirky charm.

American Movie (1999) 70%
Thought-provoking documentary, aided by some exceptional editing for narrative arc.
Code Rush (2000) 50%
The self-importance that exudes from these .com folks is pretty funny 15-years removed.
Chicken Run (2000) 80%
Quite funny and well-thought-out.
A Bug’s Life (1998) 70%
A good story professionally produced.
Marley & Me (2008) 70%
Fully expected this to be awful like so many other dog movies, but instead found it touching and occasionally funny. So, for the benefit of anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, it’s just like “Beethoven”, “Turner & Hooch”, and “Air Bud”. *wink*
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) 80%
Well-done. Gives the impression that it would closely match the mental picture one would generate from reading the novels.
Maxed Out (2006) 60%
Troubling anecdotal stories as pot shots against corporate evil.
Men At Work (1990) 20%
Bad and unfunny. A couple well-delivered lines by Keith David (+10%).
Hocus Pocus (1993) 30%
Supposedly a cult classic, I think it has just been bludgeoned into the consciousness of a generation, as any Disney property with a holiday theme might be.
